5 Ways To Bring Positive Energy Into Your Home

Whether we are home all day or spend long hours outside of the house, we all want our home to be a place of happiness, calm, and positive energy. It should be a reliable place to recharge or to regroup and at the very least a place to feel comfortable. Most importantly, it should not be just a place we store our stuff and stop by to sleep. Home should be a place of love, comfort, and good vibes.

Here are five super easy ways to keep the positive energy flowing in your home:

  1. Get rid of the clutter. A messy home can be very stressful. All that clutter can cause your mind to be cluttered and unfocused. Not the best vibe for the place that you want to relax. Create a place that’s free of distracting stuff and free up room in your mind to focus on more important things, like wine and books.
  2. Create a sacred space. If you share a home with someone, chances are the house is a mix of everyone’s stuff and space. If you are a parent, there is probably even less space because toys and kid’s items seem to multiply and take over everything. It’s important to create a space that is completely yours that you can retreat to. It can be a bedroom (even just half the bed), a bathroom, a comfortable chair by a window, etc.
  3. Make time for yourself. As a mom, I understand how difficult it can be to step away for a little while. There’s always someone that needs something, so we give and give. But time alone is a personal need, and so important to maintain mental health. My own time is the hour after my son has gone to sleep and it does wonders in boosting my mood and calming my nerves.
  4. Surround yourself with things that make you happy. Many of us get buried under things that we feel guilty for getting rid of or just a bunch of stuff that we think we are “supposed” to have or that have just randomly accumulated. You don’t have to go overboard, but surrounding yourself with objects or images that make you feel happy help to reinforce a positive feeling in a space. My own home is filled with pictures of my family, colors I love, and special objects that have true sentimental value.
  5. Tune in to the people around you. After a long and stressful day, all I want to do is zone out in front of the television or my computer. My husband also gets into these exhaustion fueled isolation cravings which is very disconnecting. Although we make time to do our own thing, dinnertime is a screen-free time for chatting, relaxing, and reconnecting. Turning off the impersonal connections like phones and computers really boosts the mood around here and leads to treasured memories of nothing more than spending time as a family.
